Norwegian has today (march 15th 2017)  flown more than four million passengers between the United States and Europe since the first transatlantic service began in 2013.

Norwegian first launched non-stop, affordable flights from the U.S. to Scandinavia in May 2013, followed by service from the U.S. to London in July 2014. At the end of 2016, Norwegian also launched nonstop services between Paris and the United States, with four new routes between the U.S. and Barcelona scheduled to begin in June 2017.

In just over three and a half years, four million passengers have chosen to fly with Norwegian across the Atlantic on services from the U.S. directly to five destinations in Europe and Scandinavia — Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, London and Paris.

– Reaching this global milestone of flying four million passengers in under four years shows the huge demand for affordable flights across the Atlantic. Norwegian’s transatlantic offering is not only great news for the traveling public, but it is also great for the local U.S. and European economies as we will bring more tourists that will increase spending and support thousands of local jobs,” said Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos.

– Our low-cost long-haul flights to and from the U.S. are only the beginning; we have ambitious plans to continue offering passengers affordable high-quality transatlantic flights to a range of other global destinations.”

To celebrate this milestone, Norwegian surprised one lucky passenger in Los Angeles, London, Paris and Stockholm with a pair of round-trip premium tickets for any Norwegian long-haul flight.

Norwegian is expanding its fleet with nine brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and launching Boeing’s latest aircraft, the Boeing 737 MAX. With the new 737 MAX aircraft, Norwegian can offer more American passengers high-quality travel at a great value to new European destinations, such as Belfast, Bergen, Cork, Dublin, Edinburgh and Shannon.

With these new routes, Norwegian offers 57 routes from the U.S.; 50 to Europe and seven to the French Caribbean. Other upcoming 2017 launches from the U.S. include: Oakland/San Francisco to Copenhagen (March 28); Los Angeles to Barcelona (June 5); New York/Newark to Barcelona (June 6); Oakland/San Francisco to Barcelona (June 7); Orlando to Paris (July 31); and Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona (August 22).
