airberlin will use its AB flight numbers on up to 34 flights a week, which will be operated by Flybe. From 30th October 2016, in good time for the start of the winter schedule, airberlin will offer up to six connections a day from Monday to Friday, and up to two connections a day on Saturdays and Sundays, in codeshare with Flybe.

The docklands airport in the London Borough of Newham is ideal due to its proximity to the city centre (9.5km) and can be reached more quickly and more easily than any of the British capital’s other airports. The city centre is just 15 minutes away by train or taxi.

Neil Mills, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer airberlin,

– We are very happy to be expanding our already extensive codeshare partnership with Flybe by adding another popular destination. The direct connection from our hub in Dusseldorf to the convenient London City Airport offers increased convenience for our passengers and is a very attractive proposition for business and leisure travellers alike.”

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer commented:

– We are really delighted with the travel opportunities that have now opened up for our customers through this new route between Dusseldorf and London City through our codeshare with airberlin. It is another exciting development in the continued growth of Flybe, further strengthing our ‘One Stop to the World’ proposition for convenient, seamless access to the rest of the world.“

Thanks to existing and new flights, business travellers and holidaymakers flying with Flybe can enjoy convenient connections via airberlin’s Dusseldorf and Berlin-Tegel hubs to Scandinavia, Poland, Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland, as well as to cities around the world, such as Abu Dhabi and New York. Within Germany, airberlin provides connections from its hubs to popular destinations such as Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Nuremberg.

Since August 2016, airberlin passengers have been benefiting from codeshare flights with Flybe from German airports in Dusseldorf, Berlin-Tegel, Hanover, Munich and Stuttgart to British cities such as Birmingham, Cardiff, Doncaster, Manchester and Southampton. There are also connections between Hanover and Milan-Malpensa in Italy, and Lyon as a new destination in France.

Tickets for the new codeshare flights can be booked with immediate effect at airberlin.com, flybe.com, via travel agents or by calling the airline’s Contact Centre.
