In May 2016, airberlin – Germany’s second-largest airline company, Â recorded only a minor capacity utilization decrease of 0.9 percentage points, to 80.42 per cent, despite a volatile market environment. When comparing the accumulated figures for the year, airberlin achieved a stable capacity utilization development and was able to counter negative market effects correspondingly.
In line with the capacity reduction by 2.8 per cent, the worldwide number of passengers traveling on airberlin in May decreased by 4.1 per cent, to 2,727,866 passengers, and the number of available seat kilometers (ASK) decreased by 2.4 per cent, to 4,996 billion kilometres.
airberlin’s passengers traveled approximately 4.018 billion kilometres (RPK) on airberlin’s worldwide flight route network, which corresponds to a capacity-related decrease of 3.4 per cent in comparison with the corresponding month of the previous year.
