Norwegian Air to Consolidate All Routes in the Bay Area to San Francisco International Airport

Norwegian Air will consolidate all routes from the Bay Area to operate at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Flights originally from Oakland International Airport to Oslo Gardermoen Airport and Rome-Fiumicino International Airport will operate at San Francisco International Airport for the summer 2020 season and beyond. Both routes are summer seasonal. These routes follow London, Barcelona and Paris services that moved from Oakland to San Francisco earlier this year.

– For the summer season 2020 and beyond, we will offer all our five Bay Area flights from San Francisco International Airport, which will better position us for our return to profitability. We would like to thank our partners and friends at Oakland International Airport for their tremendous support during our operation from May 2014 to just a few months ago. As the largest foreign airline in the Bay Area, we look forward to offer American travellers unbeatable fares matched with our award-winning onboard product and service out of SFO, said SVP Commercial at Norwegian, Matthew Wood.

San Francisco to Oslo service will commence March 30, 2020, and operate twice weekly during the summer season, on Mondays and Fridays.

San Francisco to Rome service will commence April 1, 2020, and operate three times weekly during the peak summer season, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Fares to Rome start as low as $209.90 in Economy one-way, including taxes, and from $659.90 one-way in Premium. All routes are now out for sale on Norwegian.com/us. To find the most affordable fares, go to the low fare calendar.

– We are thrilled that Norwegian has made SFO their airport of choice for the San Francisco Bay Area. With the addition of nonstop service to Rome and Oslo, travelers can enjoy our exceptional airport experience together with Norwegian’s fantastic values, said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero, San Francisco International Airport.

– While we’re incredibly disappointed by the loss of an airline with which we share a close partnership, we reflect on the undeniable success we’ve experienced in establishing OAK as a large U.S. to Europe gateway and we have worked tirelessly to promote Norwegian’s service and to make it a “household name” here in the Bay Area. The phenomena of Norwegian at OAK has improved our visibility in the travel and aviation business worldwide, said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Bryant L. Francis.

All routes are operated by the 787-9 Dreamliner with both Premium and Economy classes. All Economy seats have personal in-flight entertainment on demand, USB charging ports and a power adapter. Norwegian is also the only airline to offer free WiFi on transatlantic routes, which is currently being rolled out, and is also available gate-to-gate.
