Visit California re-appoints Atlantic Link as Scandinavian market rep

After an extensive vetting process in Scandinavia and Finland, Visit California has now officially confirmed that the services of Atlantic Link are the best match for promoting the Golden State to the Scandinavians.

Atlantic Link has represented Visit California in Scandinavia and Finland since 2003. This year, however, the high impact account was in public bidding in the Nordic region, and after careful examinations, the popular U.S. destination has officially decided to continue their agreement with Karin Gert Nielsen’s team.

In recent years, the State of California, which is the world’s sixth largest economy, has increased their focus on international tourism. Moving forward, Atlantic Link will continue to oversee the sales, marketing and PR efforts in the Nordic region on their behalf.

– Being re-appointed as Visit California’s representation office in the Nordic region, after having worked with their organization for so many years, is a proud accomplishment for us. Throughout this process, we have been benchmarked against the strongest agencies in Scandinavia and to come out on top is a big milestone in the history of Atlantic Link, says Karin Gert Nielsen, Managing Director of Atlantic Link, which she founded in 2001.

– During the past 14 years, we’ve had a great working relationship with Visit California where we’ve managed to establish California as one of the most popular longhaul destinations among Scandinavians. That is an ideal starting point for the continued partnership.”

Scandinavia loves California

And what’s not to love. The Golden State is home to splendid nature, mouthwatering cuisine, unique surf culture and hidden gems around every corner. In 2016, 287,000 Scandinavians crossed the Atlantic Ocean to get a piece of the Californian sun, which is a new record.

– Since I started working with Visit California in 2003, I’ve seen a steady increase in the tourism demand from our region. With the significant number of route openings in recent years, exemplified by SAS’s direct route to Los Angeles, Norwegian Air to Oakland, and Finnair to San Francisco, the foundation for further increase in the years to come has been established. My personal opinion is that the Scandinavian demand for California has far from reached its limits yet, concludes Karin Gert Nielsen.

Right now, there are 32 weekly non-stop flights between Scandinavia and California. Scandinavian travelers are in high demand as they are among the highest spending European visitors when traveling in California.
